Nombuso Mathe is an Ophthalmologist and the Academic Head of Department at the Discipline of Ophthalmology, University of KwaZulu Natal in Durban South Africa. She is a Glaucoma Specialist trained in adult and paediatric glaucoma at Moorfields Eye Hospital in the UK. She is the President of Women in Ophthalmology South Africa and Vice President of South African Glaucoma Society. She is also Voluntary Faculty for Orbis International and serves as Course faculty and surgical coach for the Alcon-Orbis Phaco-development Program Africa. She serves on the Global Advisory Council of WLEH. Her passions lie in patient advocacy and clinical governance in eye care, for which she serves on a number of provincial and local committees, and as a passionate educator, her research interests are in ethics in surgical training and the medical and surgical management of Glaucoma. In her spare time, she is an enthusiastic gardener and farmer and is a mother to her beautiful daughter.
